EpsteinSchwartz has an exciting opportunity for a stellar commercial real estate attorney. Our client, a diversified real estate investment firm based in Chicago, is hiring an Associate General Counsel with at least 4+ years of sophisticated experience to play a key role in supporting the firm’s real estate transactions and investments. This attorney will report directly to the General Counsel, work closely with investment professionals and enjoy a broad and varied practice.
Associate General Counsel Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, asset management and financing;
- Manage complex agreements and contracts, including non-standard confidentiality and vendor agreements;
- Maintain regulatory compliance including assisting in marketing material compliance and record retention. Work closely with regulatory bodies and external legal counsel to ensure compliance with all applicable laws;
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to review and consolidate firm policies and procedures and liaise with internal tax team on planning for entity transfers and transfer tax issues; and
- Assist in corporate insurance policy reviews and renewals.
Associate General Counsel Qualifications:
- 4+ years of relevant commercial real estate experience at a large law firm or in-house legal department;
- Strong experience in real estate transactions, including an understanding of the private real estate and investment management businesses;
- Familiarity with Investment Adviser Act compliance a plus;
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams;
- Strong work ethic, enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
- JD and in good standing in at least one state and ability to waive into Illinois bar.
Associate General Counsel Compensation:
- Anticipated base compensation range for this role is $240,000 – $300,000. Bonus and highly competitive benefits package are provided.
